Started in 1965, Head Start is the comprehensive high-quality model for early childhood education in the U.S. Serving 800,000 children annually, Head Start supports children from before birth to age five and their families, offering a 360-degree holistic approach to education, health, and family well-being. To date, Head Start has helped more than 37 million children across 50 states prepare for success in school and life.
Head Start services are delivered nationwide through 1,600 local agencies that tailor the program to best serve the local needs of families in our communities.
